Frequently Asked Questions

Both types of plant food are a good choice and will get the job done. However, each type has advantages and disadvantages for different situations. Our granular fertilisers have a long-lasting effect, which means that you will not have to fertilise as often. To apply the fertiliser, you work the granules into the top layer of soil. This may require some effort when dealing with potted plants.

Liquid fertilisers, on the other hand, can be applied when watering - they are extremely easy to use. The nutrients in the liquid plant food are released more quickly, meaning you will have to re-fertilise your plants more frequently. Ultimately, the choice between liquid and granular plant food is a matter of personal preference. In general, liquid plant food is recommended for potted plants, while granular fertilisers are more suitable for garden beds as well as potting or repotting.

Many fertilisers contain animal products such as slaughterhouse waste (for example horn shavings). Manure or cattle horn shavings can contain heavy metals and residues of hormones or antibiotics, especially in today’s industrial farming. This is why we avoid adding these ingredients to our products. As they are animal-free, our Plantura fertilisers are child and pet friendly, and the perfect choice for animal lovers as well as vegans. Another advantage of not using animal ingredients is that our plant food has no strong smell so is easier to store.

Our plant food should be stored in a cool (but frost-free) and dry place, away from direct sunlight. Once the packaging has been opened, the product can be used for several years. If stored correctly, there is no expiration date. You can store the fertilisers in your house, but make sure to keep them out of reach of children and pets, and away from food. Always shake our liquid fertilisers before use.

In contrast to many mineral fertilisers, our plant food is pet-friendly. The predominantly plant-based ingredients come from safe sources and are suitable for use in biological production. Your children are also safe to join in with your gardening activities.

There is no strong or unpleasant odour when applying or storing our plant fertilisers, since they do not contain any animal products. This is also the reason why we can do without additional plastic packaging for our granular fertilisers. Due to the neutral scent, you can easily store and use the plant food inside the house.

You can order our fertilisers here in our online shop and have them delivered to your door. This way, there is no need to make the trip to the garden centre, plus you do not have to deal with carrying the fertilisers home. Because we market our plant food ourselves, we can offer you a fair price and great customer service.

When you order one of our Plantura fertilisers, you will get an NPK fertiliser with a perfectly balanced ratio of nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P) and potassium (K). Our plant fertilisers are the perfect choice for all animal lovers: they are free from animal products such as manure or bone meal. Our plant food is, of course, suitable for use in biological production. Want to learn more about our garden fertilisers? On our website you can not only buy the NPK fertilisers, but also find out what plants they are suitable for and how to apply them.
